About the Headache Center

Headache pain can be excruciating and affect every aspect of your life for minutes, hours or even days. At the Ayer Neuroscience Institute Headache Center, we understand those days and want to help you put an end to them.

As providers with advanced training and experience diagnosing and treating various forms of headache, we start by focusing on you as a patient, instead of centering on the pain itself. This is because we know each person’s experience – the causes, triggers and symptoms of their headache - is unique to them, so we respond by crafting equally individual care plans for every patient we see.

Helping you address your pain is a team effort at the Headache Center. Our specialists collaborate with each other and, because of our unique institute care model, they also work directly with specialists from physical and occupational therapy, rehabilitation, behavioral health, nutrition, neurosurgery, neuropsychology, EEG and other fields. All of these brilliant minds come together to lend their fresh perspective to your care plan.

In addition, our permanent collaboration with the internationally-recognized Migraine Research Foundation ensures us access to the latest research involving procedures, medication and devices designed to help treat headache. We often enroll qualifying patients into studies where they might get early access to potential headache help.

We have cultivated the nation’s only Headache and Hormone Center and Headache and Pregnancy Center to help women experiencing hormone-related headaches achieve relief. We also conduct the only Headache Council in the country, drawing together specialists from all related disciplines, including diagnostic imaging and rehabilitation, to review patient cases and help determine tailored care plans.

We do it all because we believe no one should suffer with headaches that take away from the enjoyment of life. This mission has helped us become the state’s primary provider of care for headache, and patients come from 15 states and Europe for help
