Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Alliance

Because the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute is the charter member of the Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Cancer Alliance, cancer patients have unprecedented access to the world’s most advanced care, including clinical trials, evidence-based treatments and some of the best minds in the field.

Right here in Connecticut, physicians, nurses, pharmacists and researchers are working collaboratively to implement cancer treatment standards and protocols developed at MSK, one of the world’s leading cancer centers.

This distinctive cancer care and clinical research partnership means the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute brings the most innovative, evidence-based cancer care from MSK directly into community settings across our state. Previously, patients had to travel to New York to get this level of care.

Partnering with MSK has helped Hartford HealthCare expand its research portfolio to include more cancer types than ever before, and to add a Cancer Care Innovation Unit at Hartford Hospital. The unit enables Hartford HealthCare to provide Phase I clinical trials to patients, meaning they have access to the most promising drugs in the development pipeline.

At a time when treatment and technology are evolving faster than ever before, Hartford HealthCare’s alliance with MSK helps it stay on top of the changes. In order to be a nationally recognized leader in cancer care, it is critical to have this knowledge, share it and implement it so that it makes a difference in the lives of our patients.

In addition, members of the MSK Cancer Alliance from around the country share research and best practices to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients through multi-disciplinary tumor boards, disease management teams and symposiums on the latest data, technology and advances.

In New England, patients have many choices for top-notch cancer care, which is why we have to offer patients all the most advanced care locally. Our membership in the MSK Alliance helps us do that, and much more.

Being a member of the MSK Alliance also helps recruit some of the most talented physicians in the field, from the very specialized melanoma/ immuno-oncologist to surgical specialists in areas of breast cancer, thoracic oncology, head and neck, neuro-oncology and surgical oncology.

The bottom line is when you’re faced with a cancer diagnosis, getting the best care is crucial. In New England, patients have many choices for top-notch cancer care. What sets us apart is that we offer the most advanced care locally. Our membership in the MSK Alliance helps us do that, and much more.
