October 27, 2021

Hartford HealthCare at Home Vice President Laurie St. John was presented The Judith Hriceniak Career Achievement Award for Excellence in Nursing Leadership by the Connecticut Association for Healthcare at Home. The award recognizes distinction of service in nursing displayed by a home care or hospice RN in a management position.

“I am so humbled and appreciative to receive this Judith Hriceniak Award,” said St. John.  “A special thanks to my Hartford HealthCare at Home team who work so diligently to care for our patients. I also want to thank and recognize all of Connecticut Home Health leaders who showed such extraordinary leadership during this challenging year.”

Throughout her life and career, Dr. Judith Hriceniak (1938-2000) was widely recognized for her achievements as an administrator and nursing educator. She began her career as a registered nurse and director of Home Care Services at Bristol Hospital. In 1973, she joined the Central Connecticut State University faculty, coordinating the Nurse Teacher Education Program and subsequently developing, implementing and gaining accreditation for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program.

Dr. Hriceniak served as a mentor and role model for students and faculty through her extensive participation in professional organizations at the local, state and national levels.

“On behalf of everyone at Hartford HealthCare, our colleagues, patients and their families, I want to offer my heartfelt congratulations to Laurie for this wonderful accomplishment,” said Eric Smullen, Senior Vice President of Hartford HealthCare Community Network.

“She couldn’t be more deserving of this award.  Her dedication and commitment to the patients and families she serves is nothing short of incredible and her compassion and integrity make her an invaluable member of the Hartford HealthCare leadership team.  We are truly lucky to have her as a colleague and friend.”
