Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (Heart Attack)

Hartford Hospital, since the late 1980s, has been a primary location for this life-saving procedure that unclogs the blood vessel of heart-attack patients using an expandable stent inserted through a catheter.

The Heart & Vascular Difference: Life Star helicopter, for more than 30 years, has played a critical role by transporting heart-attack patients from greater distances for timely treatment. With the Institute’s high-volume program, 250 cases a year, the Cath Lab has been a regional leader for decades in adopting guidelines for performing this procedure.
