Bio

Sheena Mehta is a nationally board-certified Physician Assistant with extensive experience in headache diagnosis, treatment and management. She works in the Hartford Healthcare Headache Center independently as one of our advanced headache providers.

After receiving her Bachelor’s in Biology from Fitchburg State University, Sheena then went on to graduate with her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Since joining the headache center, she has specialized in all aspects of headache medicine to deliver a compassionate and comprehensive tailored treatment plan including both non-medication and conventional treatments.

Sheena has extensive skills and training in procedural interventions including nerve blocks, trigger point injections and Botox administration for the treatment of headache. She has also participated in our multidisciplinary headache council to streamline a process for headache patients to receive physical therapy as an adjunctive treatment for headache. She has experience in research and innovation through participating as a sub-investigator in clinical trials being conducted at our center. She has been involved in one of the largest studies in the world on treating status migrainosus (a complication of migraine where attacks last three or more consecutive days) which was funded by the Migraine Research Foundation. Additionally, she enjoys promoting headache education not only to her patients, but she also works to educate colleagues and advanced practitioner students as a preceptor. She has been an invited lecturer for physician assistant students at Quinnipiac University and has given poster presentations at the American Headache Society conference on topics related to headache medicine.

Areas of clinical interest include episodic and chronic migraine as well as procedural interventions for headache.
