Bio

Rowland B. Mayor, M.D., is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in arthroscopic surgery, adult and pediatric sports medicine and reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder.

He received his undergraduate degree from Yale University, graduating Magna cum Laude. After one year of research at the National Institute of Health, Dr. Mayor received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He completed his internship in general surgery and residency in orthopaedic surgery at both the Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. He then went on to receive a year of specialty training in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery at the Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine acknowledged this extensive research by granting him the O'Donoghue Sports Injury Research Award.

Primarily working at the Hospital of Saint Raphael, Yale-New Haven Hospital and the Temple Ambulatory Center, Dr. Mayor is also a member of the Yale School of Medicine clinical faculty and an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Mayor's recreational interests include bicycling, tennis, ice hockey and soccer. He resides in Guilford with his wife, Stephanie, and their three children.
