Mary Calnen is a nationally board-certified Physician Assistant with experience in headache diagnosis, treatment and management. She works in the Hartford Healthcare Headache Center independently as one of our advanced headache providers.
Mary graduated magna cum laude with her Bachelor of Health Sciences at University of Hartford. She then completed her Masters in Physician Assistant studies at Bay Path University. She has a background working at Hartford Hospital for four years in the surgical department. As one of our headache specialists, she delivers a patient centered approach in her comprehensive treatment plans utilizing a pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approach.
Mary is experienced in performing procedural interventions including nerve blocks, trigger point injections and Botox administration for the treatment of headache. She also participates in our monthly multidisciplinary headache council. She works to educate her colleagues by providing staff lectures on headache related topics.
Areas of clinical interest include procedural interventions for headache, chronic migraine, and cluster headache.
In her spare time, Mary enjoys volunteering with The Junior League of Hartford, trying new foods, and snuggling with her cat, Grey.
