Amandeep Aujla, MD, joined the Hartford Healthcare Cancer Institute in July 2020, and practices in the Norwich and Waterford offices. His practice is evolving and he sees patients with broad diagnoses of cancer with special interest in thoracic oncology, neuro-oncology and melanoma. After earning a medical degree in India, Dr. Aujla completed an internship, residency and fellowship in hematology and oncology at New York Medical College, where he also served as chief fellow in his third year. He has authored and participated in different projects focusing on breast cancer, kidney cancer, hematological malignancies, engraftment fever during stem cell transplantation and sickle cell disease. He also worked under the mentorship of Dr. Seah Lim, evaluating the role of targeting intestinal pathophysiology in decreasing vaso-occlusive crises in Sickle Cell Disease. The work led to the Food & Drug Administration designating Rifaxmin an orphan drug treatment for the disease.
